living with my parents definitely i can't just ask them to change their diet overnight... I keep reminding them of their age they should keep eating duck, pork and chicken... my parents always stuff themselves with roasted duck, pork and chicken after every "festival" - worshiping of our ancestor and our 大伯公. i don't really eat a lot of the meat, so i m guessing it all went in to my dad and mum stomach. sometimes (i might sound silly) i told my mum, did you ask tue pek gong and ah gong, ah ma what they want to eat? maybe they want to eat fruits and 斋, it might sound disrespectful in our Chinese belief. But i think gods also won't like us to slaughter and eat lotsa meat... well, my parents did slowly changed, since young every 初九 we will have 大鱼大肉 to pray to heaven, these few years it's just fruits, egg and noodles. (cos my dad "ask 天公 for permission")...

Journey to the North

it's was year end, 冬至-汤圆 day. I had my 30 汤圆before fang, corrine and myself flew ourselves to Bangkok. Before the trip, i did the booking for flight and train finding all sorts of ways to get to Bangkok and Laos. we took thai airway afternoon flight to Bangkok, the flight got delayed slightly and our baggage got delayed.. by right we have ard 2hr which is ample of time to get from BKK airport to BKK train station. but when we stepped out of the airport we are left with 1hr, on top of that due to Friday crowd and heavy traffic there's super long queue at the taxi stand. we tried to see if we can get other form of transportation from the desk, worst they told us it take 2hr to reach the train station. I was the Gan Jiong one, as I don't want to let this mess up all our plan and trip.. so we spoke to the taxi uncle hopefully he can speed up, we thought of the worst case scenario we can stay 1 night in Bangkok.. but nooooooooo, I pre-booked the vip cabin I want to sit haha!! luckily we got there just in time to collect our online tickets (which I called him at airport telling him that I will be late please wait for meeee) and buy some drink and donuts/bread and hope on the the train 69 to nongkai leaving at 2000hr.

we didn't have private toilet but the toilet are only shared with the vip cabin so it's still acceptable. once we board the train,a guy walked in and we ordered our on board dinner :) Tom yam soup and stir fried mushroom. To our surprised, there's a power outlet for charging and a basin for us to wash our face and hand. 3 of us got a cabin to share, unfortunately there's no handsome man to take the upper deck of my cabin :) in the night, the train will stop at a few station and continues to move on... when the street light shone into my cabin.. something caught my eye... small cockroach crawling on the side of my wall.. oh oh well, fang and miss loo already sleeping soundly at their cabin. me too very tired after the whole evening mad rush to the train station.. but 小强cannot live else I cannot sleep.. so I took my slipper and slap him to the wall. he dropped down to the corner, i shoved the mattress in and continue to sleep.. that how tired I m.. haaaa..

thailand, nongkai, vietianne
when morning sun shines into our train, all the 3 of us slowly awakes and we reached nongkhai, we still need to transfer to thanaleng. The 2nd train will crossed the friendship bridge and once we are in thanaleng, we paid 300 Baht for a mini van to bring us to vietianne. we have been traveling for almost a day.... we took a break at a touristy looking cafe near vietianne town before we embark on our 4 hrs journey to vang vieng. on our way, we also met a group of sg girls heading their way to vv too.

vang vieng
by the time we reached vv and check-in it's already dark... we walked around and decided to book hot air ballooning for the next day morning afternoon we will go tubing and canoing with wonderful tour.

woke up at 5am for hot air balloon!! the guy look a bit like huang xiaoming, just a bit.. haaa.. i didn't know how dangerous hot air ballooning is at that point of time. so I was really enjoying the view up there, the surroundings are so serenity, the town is still asleep. afternoon we went tubing, weather was really hot BUT the water damn icy cold.. my butt is super cold loh.. haha... quite nice tubing in the cave and down the river.. lazing...

we bumped into the group of sg girls again for the tubing activities. and that evening fang and loo when to drink with them and the guides.. i went back to guest house to read and sleep.. after they left, the whole town blackout.. i keep fanning myself to sleep..

next day we decided to join the girls and a few Caucasian guys that they met during the trip to blue lagoon... the tedious part of the trip is to get miss loo to cycle.. :) She uncomfortable on the bicycle due to a previous accident that left her a cut so deep that it bleed non stop. I was worried for her safety also, trying my best to look out for her by stalking her behind. the road was really bumpy and rocky, she did pretty well cycling all the way to the blue lagoon, but on our way back she didn't brake in time down the slope and got her toe cut by the stones. but it's minor wound, i got band-aid. we clean it with water and plaster it, i'm just really glad that she cycled the whole journey with us. haaaaa she might be cursing and swearing along the way...after we washed up and decide to meet for dinner, that's where I had my most delicious salt grilled fish in my life. we finished up all the fish in the stall for that day...

i remembered we spent Christmas eve drinking at vv but alot of their pub closed down some had curfew so after count down we linger a bit and went to bed. not my kind of scene, many were drunk, kissing, hugging looking for happy ending. -.-"

luang prabang
next day morning, we shared a van with a Caucasian couple and embark on our 7 hr journey to LPB. 10 minutes into our journey, our van got a flat tires and we spent 1 hr at the road side waiting for it to get fix. we zzZZ zzzzzzzzzz and reached luang prabang at around 4pm just nice it drop us at joma bakery. we had some cakes and coffee before we continue our journey to the hotel room.
